Sunglasses, a short history

From tinted lenses for judges to the most borrowed accessory of every summer.

Long before they were cool, tinted lenses were practical: a way to hide your expression, to rest your eyes, to look at bright snow without going blind.

From useful to iconic

Cinema made them glamorous. Suddenly every film star wore a pair between takes, and every photograph of them did the rest.

Why we keep buying them

They change a face more than any other accessory, they are cheap enough to lose, and they make every summer photograph look like a better summer.

Choosing a pair

Match the frame to the opposite of your face shape, and the colour to the clothes you wear most. Then buy a second pair, because you will lose the first.
